Course Description
- The course teaches learners how to recognise cardiac arrest, call for help, start effective CPR for adults and children and use an automated external defibrillator safely.
- Immediate actions instruction for fainting, seizures, hyperventilation (panic attacks), asthma, and anaphylaxis.
- 4.5 hours duration

Compliance & Alignment
- Aligned with Resuscitation Council UK adult and paediatric Basic Life Support guidance.
- Aligned with Resuscitation Council UK guidance on the safe use of AEDs in adults, babies, children and young people.
- Supports workplace and organisational first aid arrangements where a first aid needs assessment identifies adult and paediatric BLS and AED training as appropriate.
- Does not replace a full first aid qualification.

Delivery & venue
- Training is delivered at the client’s location.
- Maximum 10 learners per tutor.

Entry requirements
- Learners do not need previous first aid training or healthcare experience.
- Learners should be able to take part in practical training, including performing chest compressions, though reasonable adjustments can be made.

Assessment & Certification
- Learners are assessed practically during scenarios.
- Certification is provided electronically.

Tutor standards
Courses are delivered by HCPC registered paramedics with:
- At least ten years in clinical practice
- At least five years in a specialist clinical role.
- A paramedic degree
- A postgraduate qualification
- An approved teaching qualification
- Full membership of the Royal College of Paramedics
